In the spirit of exploration, curiosity and Fun, selected Global Technology Preparatory students have united to join MOUSE Squad - a youth development program that puts them at the center of technology exploration, solutions and leadership at Global Tech Prep.  The nine exemplary and high-achieving students who have been selected by the school to join this technology squad are Quentin Smith, Tabitha Colon, Adonia Hosier, Raquel Mabra, Raimi Burg, Caio Miranda, Derek Ortiz, Ismauri Cabrera and Joey Cambrelen.  Mr. Mark Tiroff, the school's technology specialist, serves as the squad's Coordinator and Instructional Facilitator.

The Mouse Squad program is designed to enhance students' knowledge of technology and allows students to explore the 21st century Information Technology and Computer Science fields.  Students work together under the supervision of the Squad's staff coordinator to set up and manage a student-led help desk.  Students also explore the fields of software development, network engineering, robotics, web design and multimedia authoring through hands-on activities and field trips.

Tabitha Colon, one of the Global Tech MOUSE Squad members wrote, "My main goal is just to be a computer expert and a technician or programmer.  I just want to fulfill my dream of fixing and creating computers and making stuff for the computers."

The MOUSE Squad program implemented at Global Technology Preparatory is sponsored by the MOUSE organization in collaboration with the NYC Connected Learning initiative to enhance students' access to technology and enrich students' academic opportunities.  The MOUSE name is an acronym that stands for "Making Opportunities for Upgrading Schools and Education."
